Sir Wyn Williams to publish interim report on compensation for sub-postmasters

On Monday 17 July 2023, an interim report from Sir Wyn Williams will be laid before Parliament under section 24(3) of the Inquiries Act 2005.

The report will set out the Chair’s findings and recommendations so far on the three schemes established by the Post Office and the Government to compensate sub-postmasters affected by the Horizon scandal: the Historical Shortfall Scheme, the Overturned Historic Convictions Scheme and the Group Litigation Order Scheme.

It follows four public hearings Sir Wyn Williams convened on compensation issues and previous publications in which he has set out his concerns to date:

Chair’s Progress Update on Issues Relating to Compensation (August 2022)

Statement on Issues Relating to Compensation (January 2023)

Core Participants to the Inquiry who have signed confidentiality undertakings will have advanced sight of the report via a secure system in the morning of 17 July.

The report is expected to be laid in Parliament at 12:00pm and will be published on the Inquiry's website shortly thereafter.
