Inquiry to examine Post Office criminal prosecution case studies

The Inquiry has today published its witness timetable for Phase 4 Hearings taking place between November and December 2023.

Over seven weeks Sir Wyn Williams will hear evidence from former Post Office investigators and lawyers, as well as external solicitors and counsel who were involved in prosecuting sub-postmasters.

Former Fujitsu engineer, Gareth Jenkins, will also give evidence over four days, and Duncan Atkinson KC, who was instructed by Sir Wyn to independently analyse evidence relating to the conduct of criminal prosecutions brought by the Post Office, will address Volume 2 of his Expert Report.

In December, the Inquiry will hear evidence relating to prosecutions in Northern Ireland. Phase 4 Hearings will continue in January to further examine prosecutions in Northern Ireland as well as Scotland, and to examine the role of Fujitsu in supporting criminal prosecutions.
