Inquiry to hear updates on compensation for sub-postmasters

Sir Wyn Williams will this week hear from Core Participants to the Inquiry whom he has invited to provide updates on compensation for sub-postmasters and others impacted by failings relating to the Horizon IT system. 

The Chair of the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry called a third hearing on the issue after saying he was “disappointed with the apparent lack of substantial progress to date”. 

During the hearing at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London on Thursday 8 December, he will hear oral submissions from legal representatives on behalf of the following. 

  • Post Office Limited  

  • Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy 

  • Hudgell Solicitors on behalf of sub-postmaster Core Participants they represent 

  • Hodge Jones & Allen on behalf of sub-postmaster Core Participants they represent 

  • Howe + Co on behalf of sub-postmaster Core Participants they represent 

The hearing will be an opportunity for the parties to respond to issues raised by the Chair in his Progress Update, published in August of this year. 

Written submissions from the parties addressing the issue of compensation will be published on the Inquiry’s website on Wednesday 7 December.
